THE MYSTERIOUS POWER OF SEDONA
By Christine Arnold

I first heard about Sedona from friends who went there to discover the path to enlightenment. I saw gorgeous pictures of the red rocks and there was an almost eerie calmness about them. I decided to see for myself, after making sure there was a fabulous resort/spa and numerous gourmet restaurants.

I set off from Phoenix with another open-minded, spa-loving friend. At least I knew she would not mock me and she loves to eat as much as I do. We stayed for four nights at the Enchantment Resort and Spa, located about 2 miles from town. It was built in the middle of Boynton Canyon, one of the 4 major vortices in Sedona. A vortex is an area where the electro-magnetic field of the earth is very strong. The Yavapai Indians who loved in Red Rock Country before the arrival of the white man considered Boynton Canyon to be one of the most sacred places.

The energies of a vortex are said to have more of an effect on the spirit level of existence and the inner levels of the mind, rather than the physical body. They are excellent places for deep meditation and accessing your inner levels of knowledge. The magnetic vortices "tune up" your Aura so that it is properly aligned with the energies of the earth.

Since I have not yet discovered my psychic abilities (they say everyone has them), we took one of many jeep tours offered. Ours was in a very cute hot pink jeep and we visited all four of the major vortices-Boynton Canyon, the Airport Vortex, Bell Rock and Cathedral Rock. We also went to one of many Indian Medicine Wheels-circles of stones carefully arranged (supposedly by earthly magnetic forces) where certain healing rituals are performed. I had more incense surrounding me than at a 60's love fest.

We then spent the afternoons and evenings getting massages, facials and body wraps, topped off by dinner under the stars at the 4 star restaurant at the Enchantment Resort. I don't know for sure whether it was all of the spiritual energy or all of the spa treatments, but this was definitely the most relaxing 5 days I have ever spent in my life and I can't wait to go back! Once Sedona is in your heart it stays there. Some call it "Red Rock Fever."

When you are ready to REALLY relax, call me to set up the journey to enlighten your spirit and get the best massage of your life!
