My Brother's Mexican Wedding
By Christine Arnold

Since I have planned many destination weddings, I suggested a destination wedding in Mexico for my brother, Scott, and his now-wife Tonya. The happy day took place on the beach at sunset at the Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal Resort in Mexico on December 4, 2006.

This is a spectacular beachfront resort that sits about 30 miles south of Cancun, close to the Caribbean resort town of Playa del Carmen. The Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal Resort offers an amazing array of facilities. The layout takes full advantage of the lush native vegetation and you move through the resort on walkways that wind through dense jungle foliage, ponds and cenote wells.

Scott and Tonya had the perfect beach wedding that they had hoped for-white archways with flowers woven through and a Mexican Trio played to set the mood. The great thing for them was that I did most of the work. All they had to do was get to Mexico 3 business days before the wedding date and the wedding planner at the resort and I took care of the rest.

An all-inclusive resort was the perfect option for the bridal couple and their guests. Everyone had plenty of time to take excursions to the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Tulum, and others rode ATV's through the jungle and along the beach or went parasailing.

The wedding was beautiful and was the only wedding I have attended where all of the guests and the bride and groom were in bare feet. After the ceremony, we had a cocktail party on the beach with a full bar and appetizers of fresh fish, quesadillas and other assorted goodies. After a 4 course dinner, we all went to the disco, which we had rented out just for the wedding guests.

There we had the best chocolate wedding cake any of us had ever tasted and the dancing and partying went on into the wee hours of the morning! The best part was that we all walked back to our rooms and met up at the pool or beach the next day!

If you are planning on getting married, start thinking about a destination wedding/honeymoon! Call us at Classic Travel and we can do as much of the planning for you and your guests as you like! My new sister-in-law is very glad she did!
