Alaska in Winter
by Shari Pulver

We spent 3 nights in Fairbanks at the Princess Lodge this last week.  We loved staying there as opposed to the overflow they had us in three years ago.

We had a great time in Alaska in the winter.  We hired an off-duty Princess bus driver to drive us around in our rented SUV.  He retired from the Fairbanks Police Department after seventeen years of service.  He was able to take us places we would never have known about ourselves.

We were able to go on a dog sled ride.  What a wonderful trip.   Before and after the ride we were able to interact with the dogs.  The trees were all filled with snow and beautiful to look at.  We saw a cow moose and her two babies right up next to the road. We  did not see the Northern Lights because it was cloudy all the time we were there, but the weather was zero and above as opposed to 42 below the day before we got there.  We were, however, able to see really nice sunrises and sunsets.

We have attached a couple of pictures.  The first one is of me right after my dog sled ride and the second one is of the moose.
