If during your stay at Dreams Palm Beach you wish to explore beyond the all inclusive luxury and activities of the resort and spa, a world of excitement awaits in the surrounding area.
The Dreams Palm Beach is situated in a lush tropical setting full of cultural and ecological attractions. Isla Catalina, given its name by Christopher Columbus, is a gorgeous uninhabited island and nature preserve protected by the Dominican government. Isla Saona, another area highlight and national park, is nothing short of a tropical paradise circled by shallow waters and world-class snorkeling. Plantación Tropical is the Caribbean’s largest horticultural center and aviary, and features a wide variety of exotic tropical plants and birds.
Our portion of the Dominican Republic is also known for its extensive networks of caves, cenotes and underground rivers. There are opportunities for otherworldly cave tours and cave snorkeling throughout the area; in fact, the Caribbean’s longest underground cave is here. The breathtaking Los Haitises National Park is home to a system of caves adorned with fascinating pre-Columbian drawings and petroglyphs.
Other points of interest near the Dreams Palm Beach include the quaint seaside fishing town of Boca de Yuma, which itself is not far from the historic Ponce de Leon House. The artist community Altos de Chavón is a re-created 15th century Italian-Spanish village on the Chavón River, boasting delicious local cuisine. There’s shopping and local crafts in the town of Higuey, and the impressive cathedral honoring the Patron Saint of the Dominican Republic.
If you’re looking for physical activities, the area surrounding the Dreams Palm Beach offers a variety of diversions, including scuba diving, deep sea fishing, bowling, and several world-class golf courses.
